Job Summary:

The Sr. Payroll Tax Analyst administers and performs the end-to-end US payroll tax functions and processes that both enable the accurate and compliant processing of iHerb’s US payroll, and the complete and compliant delivery of the federal, state, and local reporting and remittance obligations created by that payroll processing.

 

Job Expectations:

  • Administer the end-to-end payroll wage and tax processes, ensuring compliant federal, state, and local withholding, reporting, and remittances in partnership with ADP employment tax services.  Those end-to-end processes include but are not limited to:

    • Payroll Tax jurisdiction administration and multi-platform synchronization

    • State UI rate administration and multi-platform synchronization (Workday / ADP)

    • Payroll Tax notifications administration

    • Quarter balancing analyses and resolution

    • Quarter filing and amendment administration

    • Annual filing and amendment administration

    • Payee tax election administration, auditing, and resolution

    • Ongoing payroll processing auditing and execution of controls and reconciliations that ensure timely and accurate multi-platform obligation, funding, and remittance synchronization

  • Provide Payroll Tax subject matter expertise and guidance to the Payroll function and the Payroll function’s partners in Finance, Human Resources, and Corporate Tax

  • Service and perform required analyses for Payroll Tax-related inquiries from iHerb team members, Payroll team members, and Payroll’s functional partners

  • Document knowledge and actively share with team members and provide training

  • Be curious and continuously question the way we do things, experiment with alternatives, be unafraid to smartly fail, and be prepared to advocate solutions that help the team perform smarter

  • Use the established workflows, automation, tools, and technologies supporting iHerb’s Payroll processing and service support and iHerb’s monthly, quarterly, and year end / year begin activities

  • Establish and maintain collaborative and respectful relationships and partnerships with Payroll’s partner functions including Human Resources, Benefits, Compensation, Finance, and HRIS

  • Establish and maintain collaborative and respectful relationships and partnerships with our outsourced and third-party service providers

  • Support the Director, Global Payroll and other iHerb stakeholders with projects and change efforts

  • Be flexible and prepared to engage in and support myriad unexpected and unplanned change efforts and projects

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrable US Payroll Tax federal, state, and local payroll subject matter expertise

  • Demonstrable evidence of exposure to and participation in the processing of multi-FEIN payrolls having a multi-state, nation-wide portfolio of federal, state, and local jurisdictions and numerous reciprocity arrangements

  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to distill and assemble complex analyses as readily digestible communications and data stories

  • Disciplined, consistent, and relentless adherence to and enforcement of processing controls

  • Substantial familiarity and exposure to the core functions and capabilities of enterprise payroll systems

  • Substantial familiarity and exposure to the core inputs, integrations, and deliverables of enterprise payroll systems with specific required expertise in the exchange and reporting of payroll tax-related data

  • Effective time management and activity prioritization

  • CPP, CPA, or other certification having a material Payroll Tax element to the certification a plus

  • Ability to demonstrate problem solving, logic, and quantitative thinking along with equivalent work experience

 

Equipment Knowledge:

  • Workday payroll tax payee election, rate configuration, and pay component tax eligibility assessment proficiencies required

  • ADP SmartCompliance Employee Tax processes proficiency required

  • Microsoft Office applications familiarity contributive with strong proficiency in Excel required

  • Experience with Google Business Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) preferred

 

Experience Requirements:

Generally, requires a minimum of four (4) years of enterprise payroll tax experience including day-to-day, quarterly, and year-end / year-begin activities. Experience in an HR or Finance Shared Service Center a plus

 

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in any curriculum that introduced you to and advanced your problem solving, logic, and quantitative thinking skills contributive to success in the role. Payroll accounting education (degreed, certification, or on - the - job) applied and understood in the context of the payroll tax end-to-end processes a strong plus (i.e., payee, jurisdictional, and third party-supported end-to-end processes)
