About the role

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for maintaining and adhering to strong accounting processes and internal controls to ensure key accounts are reconciled in accordance with GAAP and transactions are processed and recorded timely. This position will work closely with the Corporate Controller and Senior Director of FP&A in the Finance Department and cross-functionally with members of multiple R&D Departments to produce accurate financial reporting both internally and to our investors.

Role and Responsibilities 

  • Compile and analyze financial information, record monthly journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare monthly reconciliations.
  • Work cross-functionally with CMC, clinical, and other departments to drive monthly accrual process.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll and record to the general ledger.
  • Assist with stock plan administration as needed.
  • Oversee the outsourced accounts payable function, including ensuring proper invoice entry and coding.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports and provide accounting support for requests from independent auditors.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Controller on the development and implementation of internal control policies and procedures.
  • Own year-end close out of payroll and accounts payable processes, including W-2 and 1099 preparation.
  • Identify opportunities for internal process improvements and automation.
  • Assist with future ERP transition.
  • Act as a liaison between Finance and other departments as required.
  • Other ad hoc projects and responsibilities, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field + 3-5 years in Finance/Accounting; life science experience is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with general ledger software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Business Central
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in Big 4 public accounting firm and CPA license or ongoing path to CPA a plus
