We are seeking a Visual Interaction Designer to join D4V (Design for Ventures) in Tokyo.
The ideal candidate
- Is fluent in both English and Japanese
- Has a strong portfolio showcasing UI / UX design work
- Has a bias for making, iterating and visualizing
- Has experience working with startups
As a Visual Interaction Designer at D4V, you will have the opportunity to work closely with startups across multiple industries in a collaborative environment. You will primarily work hands-on alongside our Portfolio Companies (i.e. the startups we have invested in) designing and developing world-class products and services.

Once here you will participate in design sprints to accelerate the growth of our Portfolio Companies. As a Visual Interaction Designer, you will:
- Understand our Portfolio Companies’ business needs and identify opportunities to support them through design
- Do great UX / UI design work alongside our portfolio companies to improve their products and services
- Articulate the value of design and work closely with the Portfolio Companies’ founders to show its potential for business impact
- Educate and help out Portfolio Companies in recruiting design talent, building their own design capabilities and establishing a culture of design within their organization
Relevant experience and mindset:
- Strong Japanese and English verbal and written skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field
- Experience working with startups and shipping products
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a UX/interaction design role, with a strong portfolio showcasing design work
- Strong understanding of UX principles, for both consumer-facing and b2b applications
- Bias for making, iterating and visualizing
- Proficiency in design and digital prototyping tools
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including engineers and product managers
- Passion and pulse for the Japanese startup ecosystem and its culture
- High comfort level in working within a self-directed culture and navigating ambiguity
- Openness to critique from other disciplines and curiosity to learn from a spectrum of perspectives

D4V Visual Interactive Designerの主な職務内容
D4VのVisual Interactive Designerとして、投資先スタートアップ（投資先一覧はこちら）の成長を加速させるデザイン・スプリントに参画いただきます。
- 投資先スタートアップ企業のビジネスニーズを理解し、デザインを通じてサポートする機会を特定する
- プロダクトやサービスをより良くするために、投資先スタートアップ企業と連携してUI/UXデザインを遂行する
- デザインが経営にもたらす価値を投資先企業の経営チームに説明し、密に協働して道筋を示す
- 投資先企業におけるデザイン人材の採用やデザイン組織体制の構築、社内カルチャーの確立を支援する
関連する経験とマインドセット
- 日本語と英語での業務遂行力（口頭・筆記）
- デザイン、ヒューマンコンピュータインタラクション、または関連分野の学士号取得者
- スタートアップ企業での勤務経験、実サービスの開発経験
- UXデザインまたはインタラクションデザインの職務経験3年以上（ポートフォリオで実績を示せること）
- toCとtoB、いずれの対象のアプリケーションにも対応できるUXについての深い理解
- デザインツール（Figma、Adobe Illustrator等）に精通していること
- エンジニアやプロダクトマネージャーを含む部門横断的なチームと協働できること
- 日本のスタートアップ業界に対する情熱があり、土地勘を持っていること
- 自発的に行動し、曖昧さを乗り越えながら働くことを楽しむ姿勢
- 他分野からの批評を受け入れ、様々な視点から学ぼうとする好奇心
