IDEO is in search of an HRBP who will partner with our San Francisco Hub Talent to deliver seamless & equitable people services across the organization.

In a nutshell:

The HRBP Director will focus on aligning HR strategies with the firm's strategic vision. They will contribute to and lead the execution of human resources strategies and tactics to support the needs of our people. This role will serve as an expert consultant on all talent matters, including organizational effectiveness, leader effectiveness, change management, organizational design, employee relations, performance management, and learning opportunities.

The HR role is pivotal in shaping the firm's culture, ensuring it attracts, develops, and retains top talent essential for driving business success. By implementing strategic HR practices, this position directly influences organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction. 

Once here you will:

  • Work closely with Talent leadership, analyzing data-driven insights to support decision-making, workforce planning, and talent management strategies
    • Oversee HR reports and metrics: Collect, analyze, and interpret HR data to identify meaningful trends, patterns, and insights that lead to innovative recommendations and new solutions
    • Identify root issues and trends in employee engagement, attrition, and retention, and work to resolution
  • Drive succession planning strategy for key roles across the organization
  • Provide coaching to leadership on a variety of actions including talent management and development, employee relations, policy interpretation, and organizational design and managing performance, growing top talent, and facilitating open communication
  • Partner with other key stakeholders to manage and iterate on our compensation and promotion calibration process
  • Recommend and implement programs to identify attrition risk and manage turnover
  • Partner with internal teams to increase employee satisfaction and engagement
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Bring a deep understanding of employment law, conducting  investigations, navigating employee complaints, and ensuring a fair and unbiased employee experience
  • Ensure the delivery of creative organizational development solutions and HR services across talent management, career development, performance management, leadership development and culture
  • Be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining HR workflows, ensuring compliance and accuracy
  • Mentor and or manage team members across Talent functions
  • Support special projects in Learning & Development, Talent Acquisition and/or HR Operations and provide support on other processes and projects outside the immediate area of responsibilities as required

Relevant experience and mindset:

9+ HR related Human Resources roles, with prior experience in an HR Generalist role. Experience in the creative industry with a self-directed management structure will be beneficial.

  • A Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in a related field such as business, organizational development, human resources management or equivalent experience
  • Strong skills in HR operations, reporting, and employee relations 
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Experience building and optimizing programs across diverse teams and cultures in a global organization
  • Ability to create and drive HR initiatives (can start with a blank sheet, design a plan/program/process and execute on a timeline)
  • Strong relationship building skills; proven track record of building collaborative partnerships as the basis for being able to influence direction and drive change
  • Strong consulting skills; able to dissect the root cause or core problem to solve and bring appropriate solutions and resources to bear
  • Strong partner and team player; focused on organizational and team success
  • Solution-oriented; balances qualitative and quantitative measures
  • Good discretion­ – demonstrates sound judgment in dealing with confidential dialogues and information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works well with a variety of working styles and personalities
  • Business-minded. Can successfully balance employee needs with business objectives to create integrated solutions

The salary range for this role begins at $120,000 USD. This range is influenced by a wide range of factors considered in compensation decisions at IDEO. This includes, but is not limited to: skills, industry knowledge, and experience. Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience & expertise, and other factors.
