What we do:

The Lead Autonomous Embedded Software Engineer is a key member of the Digital Platform team. This role will work with other members of the team to develop all fundamental software for an on-board embedded software platform, which provides the foundation for Advanced Air Mobility vehicle Intelligent systems, including autonomy and vehicle health software. The ideal candidate will have strong software development expertise, outstanding problem-solving skills, and can work well both independently and with a team. This position requires someone who is flexible and can collaborate functionally with other Engineers, colleagues from other teams, customers, clients, contractors, and is passionate about supporting the success of our organization.

What you can do:

  • Build and develop embedded software serving as the foundation for autonomy and AI/ML infrastructure, such as data infrastructure for autonomy including high-efficiency data communications, storage, pre-processing, and compression
  • Incorporate various autonomous sensors to compute platforms for both edge computing and central computing for CPU and GPU, Write device driver software for various sensors and accessories
  • Build and implement middleware to support autonomous application, data infrastructure, messaging subsystems, and robust mechanisms and modules for stability
  • Build architecture and high-level design documents for autonomous platform and middleware, while closely collaborating with system engineering resulting in robust architecture that meets or exceed requirements
  • Engage with vendors’ technical team members, evaluate product technical capabilities, and find opportunities for cross-collaboration
  • Collaborate with System Engineers, architects, and other Developers to implement software adherent to requirements and safety standards
  • Work alongside testing and integration engineers on troubleshooting and bug fixing
  • Other duties as assigned

What you can contribute:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields
  • A minimum of ten (10) years experience as an embedded system software technical lead or architect (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • At least 3 years’ experience working on autonomous driving or autonomous control software platform for automotive, robotics, autonomous aircraft system
  • Experience implementing software for all layers: driver and BSP, middleware, and application.
  • Experience with RTOS systems and Linux
  • Experience with AI/ML optimization in embedded system
  • Experience crafting solutions to provide system performance and stability
  • Experience in all aspects of software engineering planning and processes
  • Proficient understanding of autonomous platform data manipulation and message handing
  • Validated C/C++ programming skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
  • Self-motivated and driven personality

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields
  • Experience in developing the architecture for Run-Time Assurance (RTA) systems
  • Experience with ISO 26262, DO-178C, or other safety-related software and product development processes
