What we do: 

We are looking for an experienced airframe design engineer to join our airframe integrated product team. This role will drive all aspects of design and certification of the airframe structure.  From the beginning, you will be helping to build the fundamental framework of standard processes and procedures within the subject area while leading the design team throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detail design.  This will include the building of prototype and flight test aircraft. You will contemplate design for manufacturing from the beginning and ensure a smooth transition into production with the operations team. You will also collaborate with all technical development teams, including systems, interiors, flight technology, and manufacturing.  You will be accountable for the airframe meeting its weight, acquisition cost, and direct operating cost targets.

  • Perform airframe design studies, layouts, and released designs
  • Ensure the airframe design meets production rate targets
  • Ensure the airframe design is weight efficient and certifiable
  • Ensure all systems interface requirements are met
  • Support the manufacturing team in developing production technology
  • Design and support prototype and flight test efforts
  • Develop best practices for airframe design

What you can contribute:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in airframe design
  • Experienced CATIA or UG driver
  • Experience with aircraft development programs
  • Experience leading teams
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with Earned Value Management
  • Experience with prototyping
  • Highly collaborative and phenomenal communicator
  • B.S. in a relevant engineering field

You may also be able to contribute: 

  • MBA or M.S. in engineering
  • Experience in structural analysis
