What we do:

We are looking for an experienced electrical design engineer as part of the overall assembly and integration product team. This role will lead developing design solutions that support the overall long-term goals of the product. Crafting standard processes and procedures within their discipline while coordinating with the design team throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and detail design. This person will be heavily involved in the building of prototype and flight test aircraft as well as incubating technology that will be transitioned to the operations/production team in the long run. You will contemplate design for manufacturing from the beginning and ensure a smooth transition into production with the operations team. You also will collaborate with all technical development teams, including systems, interiors, flight technology, and airframe. This role has the potential to grow into a leadership position as the team scales.

What you can do:

  • Use creativity and the subject area of engineering towards the design of electrical components, assemblies and/or system
  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by crafting and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of electricity and materials
  • Design electrical components, assemblies, systems, and products based on a set of given and derived requirements
  • Work directly with System engineering to capture and understand the project design requirements
  • Develop technology and transition it to production
  • Understand corrosion in metallic components and best practices for plating and corrosion prevention
  • Perform related electrical analysis to optimize the design
  • Modify designs based on cost, weight, manufacturing targets and capabilities
  • Work with analysis, test lab and certification teams to verify capabilities of components, assemblies, or systems before fabrication
  • Confirm system and component capabilities by designing testing methods
  • Hold design reviews and presentations among peers to gain design feedback
  • Participate and provide constructive feedback in design reviews/brainstorming sessions held by other engineers/designers working on various projects
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies
  • Prepare and author various manuals / templates such as design standard and best practices, procedures, and processes
  • Assure system and product quality by confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes
  • Tackle manufacturing and assembly issues
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests
  • Build 3D models of design details per design best practices using Catia
  • Prepare manufacturing drawings to ASME Y14.5 standards using GD&T for manufacturability and repeatability in Catia
  • Creation and maintenance of a Bill of Materials for one or more projects.
  • Record notes, design changes, and test results
  • Collaborate with Project / Program Managers to develop an accurate accounting of all engineering hours required for various types of internal projects
  • Manage relationships with key material and component vendors
  • Provide technical support to vendors and manufacturing teams
  • Ensure compliance with safety / regulatory standards
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending informative workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Support the fabrication efforts required to build prototypes
  • Collaborate with all engineering disciplines to ensure design for manufacturing principles are built in early
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by manager
