What we do:

The Policy Team works to ensure there is a clear regulatory and certification pathway for Hyundai to safely manufacture and operate electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles in the United States and abroad. The Policy team works with federal, state and local agencies and legislative bodies as well as foreign jurisdictions and international organizations to ensure a safe and efficient regulatory environment for the industry and public acceptance of this emerging technology. The mission of the Policy team is to ensure that this emerging technology is operated to the highest levels of safety by deploying Safety Management Systems and other best practices throughout the organization.

What you can do:

This role would have broad responsibility for the safety policy of the company. Specifically, you would be responsible for developing the company’s safety management systems (SMS), including i) safety policy and objectives, ii) data-based safety risk assessment, iii) safety assurance, and iv) safety promotion within the company. This person would apply and integrate SMS principles and techniques to policies, aircraft certification, and operations.
The primary responsibility will be operational safety, but this role will work closely with the safety engineering team to ensure best practices and the highest levels of safety.

What you can contribute:

  • Experience with SMS in an aviation setting
  • Designing and implementing SMS programs for manufacturers or operators
  • Familiarity with the aviation rule making process in the U.S. or abroad
  • Experience working with industry groups devoted to the technology of safety
  • A degree in an aviation or safety field

You may also be able to contribute:

  • Graduate work in an aviation or safety field
  • A background in traditional aviation is strongly
  • Experience with emerging technologies, such as electric propulsion and autonomous operations
  • Experience in Human Factors
