What we do:
The Electric Propulsion team is responsible for design, integration, qualification, and certification of the energy storage system, high-voltage distribution, electric motor, and power electronics. The candidate will work closely with Battery Technology & Innovation, Dynamic Systems, Airframe, Assembly & Integration, and System Safety teams to ensure the thermal performance of the electric propulsion sub-systems is accurately managed in all operating modes.
What you can do:
We are looking for a self-starter and highly motivated engineer to serve as the authority on thermal design, performance, and qualification. The ideal candidate has significant experience in leading thermal management system development from conceptual design through qualification and certification of the system, and has worked in the aerospace industry.
The candidate will lead design and development of aircraft thermal management systems, including developing technical requirements and specifications for sourced components, collaborating with suppliers/partners to ensure program landmarks are achieved, managing and maturing mechanical and fluid interfaces, defining path to qualification, and assessing development risks and mitigations. The candidate will also architect thermal systems to minimize weight and complexity in order to achieve optimal propulsion system efficiency. This will require the candidate to lead analysis, simulation, and testing for the passive and active thermal systems on the aircraft.
What you can contribute:
- Ability to effectively lead schedule, budget, suppliers, and product development efforts
- Experience with computational fluid dynamics and other multi-physics modeling software
- Experience with 3D CAD detail part design and assembly
- Experience with full life-cycle of thermal management systems development, qualification, production, and product support
You May also be able to:
- Contribute familiarity with practical application of DO-160
- Contribute experience working in aviation industry and working with regulatory agencies
