Data is central to our success. It forms the core of all of our customer facing reporting, but is also at the heart of how we make decisions as a company. We’re building the first full stack, automated retirement management platform in the industry and data tells us how to optimize. The Data Engineering Manager will be responsible formulating and executing a strategy to meet the data needs of all business areas.
What you get to do every day
- Coaching a strong team of data engineers and helping them develop within their careers
- Working with cross functional stakeholders to understand current and future data needs and building a deep understanding of the business and technology
- Creating requirements and milestones for future projects that comprise the data engineering roadmap
- Communicating current work, milestones, successes or blockers with other tech leaders
- Anticipating roadblocks in current projects and helping remove them
- Iterating on process to ensure the team is operating at full capacity
- 20-30% of the time doing IC work to make improvements as you see fit
What you bring to the role
- 5-7+ years of experience as a data engineer building and maintaining data infrastructure, production data pipelines, databases
- 2+ years managing a technical team or as a technical lead
- Experience with mentoring engineers
- Experience managing complex cross functional projects
- Excellent verbal and written communicator. You should be able to articulate your vision and render projects into well written documents and tickets
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
- Strong desire learn and improve
- Experience with building infrastructure that complies with security and regulation in the data space a plus (e.g GDPR, SOC2, CCPA etc)

Compensation - The salary range target for the role seniority described in this job description is $175,000 - $195,000. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, geographic location, compensation/equity mix, and market data. This position may also be eligible for additional incentives such as equity awards, short-term incentives, or sales compensation.
