Position Description                                                                                                                                                                                                           
HPS is seeking to recruit an Associate to join the Private Credit Product Specialist Team.  This role will be based in the firm’s New York headquarters.  The Product Specialist teams at HPS are an instrumental part of the firm’s overall strategy and growth.  Within Private Credit, this team plays a key role in the continued growth and evolution of the business, which is already one of the most consequential and well-respected in the industry.

The Product Specialist team is responsible for development and positioning of the Private Credit business from an overall perspective.  This team is responsible for all activities related to strategy development and positioning of the overall business, as well as playing an integral role in fundraising, marketing, and ongoing investor relations activity.  This team works closely with the firm’s generalist sales force, in a range of activities that includes creating and updating both product and thought leadership materials, running analytical outputs to help facilitate investor inquiries, and providing support throughout the full sales and investor relations client lifecycle.

The Associate will be an integral part of the Product Specialist team, and he/she will both work on and support all activities related to continue to grow the HPS franchise and maintain current investor relationships.  This person will have a set of job responsibilities that will vary over the life cycle of each fund, with an initial focus on supporting the execution of the fundraising process.  Much of this person’s work will shift to ongoing IR activities once a fund is closed.  Regardless of the specific life cycle of a fund, the Associate should enjoy a dynamic, fast-paced environment that is multifaceted in nature.

Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                                                

Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Gain deep portfolio understanding and product knowledge across HPS’s Private Credit platform
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of HPS’s distinct investment approach and philosophy
  • Support the continued development of marketing materials (e.g. flipbook, data and performance analytics, market environment / opportunity set, etc.)
  • Synthesize third-party market research to identify trends, opportunities and risks for the business
  • Lead the completion of investor information and diligence requests (RFIs, RFPs, DDQs)
  • Maintain data and presentation materials for all investor updates (including portfolio overviews, investment details, risk reports) for existing institutional and retail investors
  • Perform special projects for senior management on an as-needed basis. These projects may address numerous areas of the business including finance, new products and marketing

 Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 2-4 years in a product specialist and/or project management role within a private credit firm, placement agent, investment consultant or advisory firm and/or well-respected alternative investment firm with strong private credit offerings
  • Excellent technical and quantitative skills required to address analytical investor inquiries and due diligence (seamless in PowerPoint and Excel, and strong overall quantitative ability)
  • Manage inquiries from existing and prospective investors
  • Ability to create/develop best-in-class marketing materials, presentations, investor collateral, while leveraging technical product knowledge and market insights
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail
  • Capable of thriving in an environment where individuals are empowered to take on responsibility, collaborate globally in a team-oriented framework, and operate under time pressure with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

 Rate of Pay

  • The base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $125,000.  Compensation may vary based on various factors including job function, experience, and geographic location. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
