What are we looking for? 

We are currently looking for a Finance Manager for our team. You will be in charge of the entire scope of Finance related missions for our German agency. We will trust you to manage the core day-to-day Finance activities while playing a business partner role for our Managing Director by providing him with accurate and timely information that will help him drive the business. You will also work closely with the rest of the local leadership team to whom you will provide invaluable support in the financial management of their client portfolio. As part of a broader international Finance team, you will be expected to follow the financial processes in place but will equally be encouraged to update or streamline any local process you would deem necessary to upgrade. To get into a bit more details:

Accounts management

  • Prepare management accounts and other information to a high degree of accuracy
  • Maintain the General Ledger system and accurately post all transactions on a timely manner
  • Upload locaI TB to our group reporting tool (Cognos - TM1)
  • Investigate and understand variances
  • Perform all reconciliations
  • Produce various monthly management reports for the Board
  • Prepare and process inter-company billings and management charges with international teams

Budget and forecast

  • Assist Managing Director in preparation of the local annual budget
  • Ensure accuracy of a rolling forecast at all times both on Excel and in the Group reporting tool (Cognos - TM1)

Support to the Managing Director and fee earners

  • Present and explain management accounts and other information to the Managing Director and fee earners as necessary
  • Make recommendations for:
    • Cost savings
    • System improvements & process upgrade 

Key risks monitoring and prevention

  • Highlight to management key areas of exposure to the business
  • Actively and closely monitor key balance sheet accounts to ensure that outstanding items are closed off as rapidly as possible and there is no financial exposure to the company
  • Review and sign off balance sheet reconciliations at least monthly
  • Monitor cash flow closely & prepare working capital reports weekly

Debtors and accrued income management

  • Aggressively manage debtors and accrued income
  • Deliver debtors days on average of 45 days or better
  • Be personally in the loop on every debtor over 60 days and take proactive steps to resolve

Other expected financial tasks

  • Management of:
    • Cash flow
    • lnsurance
    • Leases renewal
    • VAT and tax
    • Audit preparation and production of year end files
    • Being a resource for the agency in finalizing client contracts with support of our international legal team
    • Payroll management

Are you the ideal match for us?

You just might be if:

  • You have minimum 5 years of experience in a Finance role
  • You have worked in an international environment. You are very comfortable interacting in English at professional level (both written and spoken) and you have also the highest mastery of the German language (both written and spoken)
  • You have experience working in a client service-based industry (communications, marketing, lawyer firm, architecture etc) which allows you to understand how to manage the Finance of a business mainly selling consulting hours
  • You have a strong eye for detail and people describe you as organized and accurate
  • You know how to work autonomously and are open to managing a very wide range of tasks from standard accounting to strategic counselling
  • You are comfortable being the sole representative of the Finance team at local level but willing to be part of a wider team at international level
  • You are comfortable making presentations about Finance to various audiences (from junior staff to international stakeholders)
  • You understand that treating people with respect at all times is not an option
