This position is hybrid out of the Springfield, IL office. It is not a remote position.
Horace Mann is a purpose-driven company that is passionate about educators. The Manager Tax Compliance will ensure appropriate accounting, planning and reporting for the tax compliance function for all Horace Mann companies with the exception of income taxes.
Responsible for timely and accurate compliance with all tax requirements, except income taxes.
Responsible for timely and accurate compliance of information reporting requirements (1099s)
Responsible for timely and accurate compliance of unclaimed property requirements
Coordinate and direct responses to external auditors, state regulators and taxing authorities
Requires specialized technical knowledge
Develops, improves and enforces processes and control policies and procedures
Supervises special projects and information requests
Participates with other internal departments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Monitors and implements new tax law
Hires, trains, counsels, develops, and evaluates staff
Job Requirements:
4 year accounting degree
5 -10 years' experience
insurance industry experience
prior supervisory experience preferred
CPA preferred
Pay Range:
$79,300.00 - $124,500.00
Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
