As a Property Claims Adjuster, you will be helping our customers back to normal. Horace Mann is a leading insurance and financial services company focused on meeting the evolving need of public K-12. You will be led by a Claims Manager of Property. You will be supported by our Claims Training team and support staff. You will be the main point of contact for injury first party and third-party claims. You will negotiate settlements with both attorneys represented claimants as well as unrepresented claimants. You will investigate coverage, determine liability, and settle claims for our educators while delivering top notch customer service and adhering to our best practices. **This position is 100% remote** class starts January 13, 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Investigates any/all claims, complex files: fire, water, CAT and other dwelling losses.
- Investigates dwelling, UPP, theft events.
- Investigates all covered perils including wind/ hail, water, and fire/theft cases and works closely with SIU.
- Acts as mentor within unit.
- Ability to maintain required levels of performance.
- Knowledge of repair methods and industry products
- Able to handle PA/ Attorney represented claims with manager oversight.
- Prefer 5+ years of claims experience with Xactimate and XactAnalysis experience.
- Prefer field adjusting or construction experience.
- Recoveries for subrogation and salvage are focal points.
- Maintains State required Adjuster licenses.
- Typing and computer proficiency
Requirements:
- H.S. diploma or GED equivalent required.
- College degree in related field, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5 - 8 years of claims full-file handling/ processing.
- Limited travel up to 15% but not likely.
Pay Range:
- $50,100 - $78,800/yr.
Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
Work location is flexible if approved by the Company except that the position may not be performed remotely from NYC
