OVERVIEW

Our Springfield team is excited to welcome an Intern into their Legal/Risk Management & Human Resources operations this summer. The person our Hiring Managers envision will be a Microsoft expert (from Outlook to Excel, & everything in-between) who can think on their feet with their top-notch problem-solving skills, is highly organized & motivated, but while independent enough to get the job done, you're also willing to ask questions & admit when you need a helping hand. After all, this is meant to be a real-life learning experience!

 

DAY-TO-DAY EXPECTATIONS

Throughout your time with Horace Mann, we anticipate that you will

  • Support stakeholders (Legal/Risk Management & Human Resources) in matters requiring their attention.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across the company on various projects as strategic assignments are addressed.
  • Performing research at a supervisor's request.
  • You’ll need to participate in projects & follow the deadlines given.

This time with Horace Mann will be primarily project based, and more details for time spent with each department will be shared during the interview process.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a focus within the areas of business, human resources, risk management & insurance, law, political science, public relations, or any other applicable major.
  • Commutable distance to Springfield, IL as this role requires some on-site work at our corporate Headquarters.
  • Ability to take initiative in projects & assignments.
  • Strong communicator, with an understanding of professional conduct.
  • Interpersonal skills, allowing for a smooth transition between different departments & personality groups.
  • Comfort & familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook & Teams.
  • A strong desire to learn all the various pieces that go into a corporation’s daily operations.

 

SALARY

The pay range for this full time, 10-week long internship is $20-$25/hour.
