Hook is a Creative Production Agency. With a collaborative, maker-centric team, and an emphasis on production-led design, we develop creative campaigns, short-form content, and websites for well known brands.
Our mission is to integrate creative and production to help grow brands faster. But we believe what’s most important are the people who work with us and the experience they have along the way. Hook is organized around the idea that small, diverse and autonomous teams create better work—and a better work experience. And so, each of our pod-like teams are built with a mix of designers, writers, producers, animators, and technologists.
What is the Sandbox U Virtual Mentorship Program?
Sandbox U is a virtual program from Hook that exposes people to creative professions through mentorship and hands-on experience. We want to create more opportunities for aspiring creatives to be able to visualize a path in our industry, and launch themselves as creative professionals. Much like the safety and creative freedom that a sandbox provides, it’s our mission to support mentees while they explore their interests and build new skills.
What will my mentorship entail?
You will be paired with a Hook mentor based on your interests and goals indicated in your application. For 10 weeks starting in September, you will meet virtually with your mentor. You will decide together on the time, frequency, and platform that works best and set goals and topics to work on together.
Who is eligible?
We will prioritize candidates who are close to launching their creative career, whether that is nearing completion of a degree/certificate, or a self-taught journey; all passionate about entering the creative industry are encouraged to apply! While we would love to pair everyone, selection for the program will be based on matching craft and interests with the currently available Hook mentors. You do not need a resume, portfolio, or direct experience to the creative field to apply.
What else?
To participate in the mentorship, you will need to have access to a computer with video camera, internet, and be available to meet weekly over 10 weeks this Fall. We anticipate approximately 1 hour for weekly meetings with your mentor plus a few workshops throughout the program.
