Explore a new world of possibilities:

Smoobu (www.smoobu.com), a subsidiary of HomeToGo Group, is a fast-growing startup in the vacation rental industry. Smoobu’s all-in-one SaaS solution for private hosts currently manages over 70,000 properties across more than 120 countries. Smoobu’s priority is to help its hosts efficiently manage and grow their business.

Smoobu’s team is the secret to our success. We are an ambitious and international team that are motivated to exceed our customers’ expectations through expert advice and action. We are searching for new colleagues who are looking to take on the exciting challenge of transforming the vacation rental industry and taking it to the next level.

Your future contribution:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to join our newly formed Platform team at Smoobu.

Your role will be pivotal in supporting the migration of our legacy-hosted infrastructure to the AWS cloud. You will contribute to building and managing our platform systems as well as crafting efficient CI/CD pipelines - automating deployments, monitoring performance, and continuously improving our DevOps practices while championing the adoption of cloud-native technologies.

How you’ll add value:

  • Migrate the infrastructure to the AWS cloud, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal disruption to our operations.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Manage and optimize our infrastructure on AWS, including EKS, VPCs, RDS, RabbitMQ and storage solutions.
  • Employ Terraform to define and provision Infrastructure as Code [IaC] for consistent and repeatable deployments in the cloud.
  • Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems using Prometheus, Alertmanager and Grafana for proactive problem identification and resolution.
  • Collaborate with software developers to guide them in adopting component-based architectures and containerization using Docker.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of assigned DevOps processes.

You’ll be successful in this role if you:

  • Have 4+ years of experience as a Cloud Platform Engineer or a similar role.
  • Utilize hands-on experience with containers, compute, network, security, and identity management services on AWS Cloud Provider.
  • Master Kubernetes and container orchestration principles.
  • Are proficient in CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
  • Have a profound understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and Terraform.
  • Are experienced with logging, monitoring and alerting tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Possess strong scripting/programming skills in languages like Bash, Python or Go.
  • Are fluent in English.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with cloud migrations and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
  • Experience with other DevOps tools like Hashicorp Vault, Helm, and/or GitOps principles.
  • Experience in cloud cost optimization.

Note: We operate a rolling recruitment approach  - no deadlines, just opportunities. Should the volume of applications become too high, we might briefly remove this posting to provide our hiring team the space for thorough and unbiased review. The role will be made available again if we decide we’re still looking for the right fit.
