Who You Are

We’re looking for strategic and creative freelance copywriters to produce exceptional copy for our blog tailored to home sellers. You’re an expert storyteller who loves data and can turn complex ideas into clear, informative, and entertaining prose. You’re insatiably curious, and when you tackle a topic, you like to dig in deep. And then dig deeper.

Article topics include curb appeal, appraisals, inspections, home design, home improvement, home maintenance, working with real estate agents, working with cash buyers, and more. Posts will appear with the writer’s byline on HomeLight’s Seller Resource Center dedicated to helping people navigate each step of selling a home and helping them take pride in what’s often their largest financial asset.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll craft engaging copy that provides extreme value to our readers and follows SEO best practices. You’ll get the opportunity to work with top real estate agents throughout the country and leverage your research skills to create 1,500-2,000 word articles that become the go-to source for our readers and set us apart from the competition. You’ll also infuse your personal style with our brand voice to keep readers engaged, entertained, and coming back for more. This role is remote, and you can be based anywhere in the U.S.

You Have 

  • Experience writing research-based articles ranging from 1,500-2,000 words; real estate experience is helpful but not required
  • A rush of excitement when you get to tackle new topics, trends and technology
  • Professional communication skills to conduct thoughtful interviews with subject matter experts and experience with sourcing data 
  • The ability to balance your personal style with established brand guidelines
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices to maximize your copy’s reach

This is a remote freelance opportunity. Writers choose how many assignments they take on each month. All writers must complete a paid trial assignment and interview process at $250. Editors will determine the pay rate moving forward based on draft quality and writer reliability.
