What You’ll Do

  • You’ll function as a creative and go-getter solo pro with all the support of a robust team.
  • In partnership with other Hillel of San Diego team members, you’ll design and execute an engagement strategy to connect more than 70% of Jewish students to Hillel’s mission at both USD and CSUSM.
  • You’ll build relationships with students while creating Jewish programming for them.
  • You’ll mentor student leaders to run meaningful peer-led programming.
  • You’ll serve as the face of Hillel for the students, university administration, parents, and community.
  • You’ll use your creative side to execute a robust social media presence for both campuses.

On a day to day basis you will

  • Alternate being on campus at USD and CSUSM as the primary front facing staff.
  • Manage all programs and student engagement for both campuses.
  • Staff Shabbat, holiday, and social programming, overseeing all logistics and facilitating Jewish learning experiences.
  • Connect with students to get them more involved in Jewish life on campus.
  • Be a thought partner with the Associate Executive Director and other assistant directors.
  • Build meaningful relationships with university cultural centers to further allyship and coalition building.
  • Apply for and report on grants through the universities and outside organizations.
  • Maintain and balance the program and engagement budget for both campuses.
  • Build strong leadership at both campuses and facilitate expanding Jewish Student Union membership and participation.
  • Participate in ongoing Jewish learning and professional development.
  • Help plan freshman retreats, alternative breaks, and Taglit-Birthright Israel, including pre- and post-trip programs.
  • Oversee the collection of our engagement data in partnership with Hillel International.
  • Build out and execute a comprehensive social media presence for USD and CSUSM.

Who You Are

  • You have 4+ years in Jewish, experiential or higher education.
  • You’re an emerging leader who works well to create consensus within teams.
  • You’re a social butterfly and everyone’s friend.
  • You’re a social media maven.
  • You’re not afraid of the pressure cooker. You’re an expert at handling deadlines and competing priorities.
  • You’re an experiential Jewish educator and Jewish role model.
  • You’re proactive and seek out opportunities.
  • You’re a critical thinker who embraces data and knowledge to develop solutions to problems.
  • You’re so organized, your sock drawer is color-coded.
  • You have a four-year degree.

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $63,000-73,000.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, Life, AD&D and Long Term Disability (LTD) insurances, Flexible Spending accounts, generous vacation/sick time, and parental leave.
