Role Overview

Oregon Hillel seeks a full-time Wellness Director to begin in Summer 2025 to support the well-being and mental health of Jewish students at the University of Oregon (UO) and Oregon State University (OSU). This newly created position will develop and implement wellness-focused initiatives that promote the holistic health—spiritual, physical, intellectual, social, and emotional—of Jewish students. Oregon Hillel serves as the vibrant center for Jewish student life at UO and OSU, providing meaningful opportunities for Jewish connection, leadership development, and personal growth.

The Wellness Director will report to Oregon Hillel’s Executive Director and will be fully integrated into the Oregon Hillel staff team, collaborating on student engagement and programming to prioritize mental health and well-being. They will lead workshops on topics such as stress management and resilience, and develop wellness initiatives tailored to Jewish students’ unique needs. This role will complement existing Hillel programming by infusing mental health resources into all of Oregon Hillel’s programs and events, such as Shabbat and holiday observances, and leadership training. Additionally, they will serve as a resource for staff, equipping them to better support students. By working closely with students and staff, the Wellness Director will help create a culture of wellness within the Oregon Hillel community.

What You’ll Do

  • Build meaningful relationships with students, supporting their personal well-being and Jewish engagement.
  • Develop and lead wellness initiatives integrating Jewish values with emotional, mental, social, and physical well-being.
  • Train and support Hillel staff and student leaders in incorporating wellness practices into Hillel’s programming and overall student engagement efforts.
  • Facilitate one-on-one wellness check-ins, small group discussions, and larger wellness programs, providing students with tools to manage stress, build resilience, and foster meaningful connections.
  • Conduct needs assessments to continuously refine wellness strategies based on student feedback and campus trends.
  • Build strategic partnerships with university wellness services, counseling centers, Jewish Family Services, and other key stakeholders to enhance mental health support for students.
  • Serve as a resource for students seeking referrals for professional mental health support.
  • Ensure that Oregon Hillel’s wellness spaces are maintained as accessible, inclusive, and effective environments for student well-being.

What You’ve Accomplished

  • Earned a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, public health, psychology, or a related field. 
  • Gained professional experience in a wellness, mental health, or student support role, preferably in a higher education or community-based setting.
  • Worked with young adults, demonstrating a deep understanding of their developmental needs and challenges.
  • Successfully developed and implemented wellness or mental health initiatives.

  • Jewish cultural competency and a commitment to pluralistic, diverse Jewish life.
  • A student-centered approach with the ability to build relationships across diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to work with students, staff, and university partners.
  • Experience in program development, facilitation, and wellness coaching.
  • High emotional intelligence, strong listening skills, and a passion for student support.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with team members.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between the University of Oregon (Eugene) and Oregon State University (Corvallis).

What You’ll Receive

  • Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience.
