Higharc is a VC-backed startup that is changing how new homes are designed and built. Join a founding team who’ve shipped products for Autodesk, Electronic Arts, Nike, and Apple.

We are seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join Higharc’s growing team working on its industry leading browser-based CAD editor, Studio. As a core member of the Studio team, your contributions will enable the efficient design and construction of thousands of future homes.

Higharc is fully remote; this role can sit anywhere in the continental US.

What You’ll Do

  • Build Awesome UI Architectures: You love React and modern web application development and want to be involved with building nothing less than the most performant, scalable UI architecture possible.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with product designers, architects, and users to help extend and develop new UI patterns.
  • Problem Solving and Tradeoffs: Buildings are complicated and our editor must be at least as complicated. You excel at problem solving and developing generalizable patterns to the toughest UI problems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Iterate and evolve UI implementation methodologies, incorporating new tools and refine as appropriate

About You

Your ability to be hands-on, while also focusing on the bigger strategic picture, sets you apart. Ideally you have a strong interest in the homebuilding industry, whether it's a passion for homes, construction, or home design and you’re motivated by the prospect of elevating an entire industry through the development of a powerful new homebuilding platform.

You also have:

  • 5+ years of experience working with modern frontend engineering tools
  • Extensive experience with TypeScript
  • Extensive experience working with React & Redux
  • Experience with automated testing of React web applications
  • Experience with SASS, Tailwind, or similar modern CSS frameworks
  • Experience with Next.js
  • Keen performance analysis skills using tools like the React profiler and Chrome profiler
  • Natural curiosity and a keen interest in staying abreast of new technologies and testing methodologies
  • Excel at communicating within a dynamic organization — highlighting tradeoffs, delivery timelines, and making decisions considering various alternatives

Nice to have:

  • Experience testing rich graphical browser UIs based on HTML’s canvas element and/or Three.js
  • Familiarity with CAD or CAM applications
