High Alpha is hiring key team members for a new B2B SaaS startup. This position will be with High Alpha’s latest company, which is pre-public launch. You’ll work closely with the internal High Alpha team while reporting to the VP of Engineering. If you’ve ever been interested in working at a company from scratch as a member of the initial team, this is it!

This pre-launch product leverages breakthrough technology in the generative AI space along with information gleaned from skilled Consultants, to automate the creation of solutions collateral. This company will unlock skilled professionals to focus on the “neck up” parts of the role by automating the most administrative, but often most time-consuming, element of solutions collateral generation.

As a Principal Engineer, you will be a crucial partner in product discovery and design. You will be responsible for the architecture and software delivery. We will work together to shape the team’s culture and define the early-stage product and the processes and procedures that guide how we work as a team.

What You’ll Do:

  • Leading the architectural design and implementation of software solutions that are scalable, reliable, performant, maintainable and fully compliant with security requirements
  • Defining, developing and driving software engineering and DevOps best practices
  • Hands-on coding across the full development stack to accelerate delivery
  • Supporting technical innovation at the bleeding edge of AI technology while maintaining operational excellence and a high quality codebase
  • Decomposing complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions
  • Thinking creatively looking for incremental value and not sacrificing progress for perfection
  • Understanding implications of architectural decisions to cost of operations and make balanced decisions
  • Growing talent by participating in hiring and mentoring team members
  • Driving a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement and lifelong learning

What You’ll Need:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience
  • Expert knowledge of data structures, algorithms and their practical use
  • Strong proficiency in multiple modern programming languages (Python/Django, React/Typescript preferred)
  • Experience with a big data solution (e.g., Databricks, SnowFlake, etc.)
  • Experience with queuing and streaming systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, etc.)
  • Experience with relational databases, blob storage, and REST API architecture
  • Proficiency with continuous integration/deployment and version control
  • Strong cloud computing experience (i.e., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative Agile teams
  • Excellent team leadership, collaboration, and communication abilities

Package:

  • $150-180k annual salary based on experience
  • Great benefits, including healthcare, dental, and vision coverage for employees
  • Equity grants
  • Monthly equipment stipend to cover laptop, monitor, and any software or equipment you may need

Our Values:

  • Hardest work, best work. A challenge is motivating, even when it’s a little scary. Working through hard challenges is what makes us grow.
  • Speed over perfection. We move fast and have a bias for action. We’re quick to spot issues, pivot without hesitation, and move quickly to drive forward. We tolerate the occasional mistake in exchange for speed.
  • Face challenges head on. We’re not afraid of hard conversations and we face challenges head on. We say the things that feel uncomfortable to say to address the issue and get to the other side of the problem. We do so with positive intent and an open mind.
  • Humble in abundance, optimistic in adversity. In good times, we remind ourselves (and each other) that we’re never done learning, growing, and improving. In hard times, we force ourselves (and each other) to keep the long-term vision in mind: failure is a timeline issue: with iteration and effort, you can always find a way to success.
  • Diverse perspective, unified success. We seek out diversity because diverse teams are the most successful teams. We have a high tolerance for working alongside others who come with different perspectives, backgrounds, and areas of expertise. We approach every interaction with team members as an opportunity to see something in a different light.

High Alpha is an equal opportunity employer, and we value diversity at our company. We don’t discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
