Position Summary: Senior Manager, Corporate Environmental Compliance will lead, direct and motivate an energized team of environmental professionals who are driven to deliver solutions and provide support to our team of 1,300+ employees in more than 90 locations in the United States. The successful candidate will work closely with other CC leaders to drive improvement in the areas of environmental compliance, internal and external auditing, environmental training and driving standardization and continuous improvement throughout the organization.  In addition, this person will interface with State and Federal Agencies, provide internal guidance on regulatory issues, manage the regulatory compliance of all CC branch, depot and treatment plant facilities, and support business expansion.

Essential Duties:

  • Drive the continuous improvement and implementation of the Company’s environmental program, updating and developing new risk-based programs to promote performance improvements and reduce risk.
  • Drive continuous improvement to deliver value regarding regulatory surveillance, environmental reporting, targets and metrics.
  • Communicate significant risk issues to the Operations Leadership Team (OLT) and senior leaders with respect to environmental incidents and reporting, root-cause assessments, corrective actions, and non-compliances to drive change and improvements from the top-down
  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of environmental professionals to develop their skill sets, job knowledge and career growth. Design and engage in strategies to develop the team and its individual members
  • Ensure full environmental compliance with federal and state regulations, environmental policies and company procedures across HCC facilities. Ensure all CC Facility permits and written plans are in place and maintained
  • Interface with State and Federal regulatory agencies to provide regulatory interpretation, discuss regulatory compliance issues and negotiate implementable solutions
  • Develop and drive continuous improvement by creating proactive solutions and revising standard procedures and practices as needed to achieve and maintain environmental and operational excellence
  • Actively participate in cross functional teams to develop and implement strategies that support our operating facilities and lines of business
  • Establish and maintain relationships with peer groups, trade associations and customers to support EHS and business functions.

Position Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Up to 30% travel will be required.

Work Experience

15+ years direct work experience minimum.  

Education, Certificates, Licenses, or Designations

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the Sciences

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Work Environment: While performing essential duties of this position an individual regularly works indoors, and may be required to sit for long periods. Individual will be required to regularly talk, hear, see and often reach with hands, stand, walk, use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. Noise level of the environment is generally quiet. This position may require occasional travel by car or air to other HCC locations or vendors.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.
