Securing a quality internship can be harder than getting into an Ivy League school. If you are smart, hard-working and have demonstrable experience using BIM, LiDAR, point cloud management software or 360º photo editing software we can help. We are a small, highly supportive team with a demonstrated history of providing interns with interesting and important work that leads to full-time employment with HELIX or a great job elsewhere. HELIX is a Google spin-out committed to finding and developing promising young talent.
At HELIX we turn existing buildings into digital twins. We work with forward-thinking companies that buy, redesign and operate buildings. The HELIX platform and services deliver 3D building models that can be easily visited and shared from any device and that act as a geometric “index” for an infinite variety of data.
We are a group of motivated domain and technology experts leveraging the latest in the field of reality capture, computer vision, spatial deep learning and large-scale distributed systems to improve the performance of built environments. We use the most advanced commercially viable technology to relentlessly reduce the time and cost to generate digital building models and to organize and unlock building data.
As a LiDAR Scanning Intern your job has two parts; you are a member of the reality capture team that scans and photographs commercial and industrial buildings. You will use, test and improve processes and software related to LIDAR, point clouds manipulation and object recognition.
This is hard, focused work that can require early starts and weekend hours. Depending on your skills and ability to learn you will participate in creating “digital twins” of the buildings based on the collected data. You will be involved in product planning, process improvement challenges and marketing efforts.
We tailor our internships to fit the abilities of the intern and we always keep an eye on ensuring that you finish with a great story to tell.
What We Value
- Strong familiarity with 3D software applications
- Very strong planning skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to communicate and work well with a team
- Real-time problem solving skills related to experimental technologies (high tolerance for the unexpected)
