What You'll Be Doing:
Establish and operate radiation monitoring systems,
Work with radiation and radioactive material including photons, neutrons, tritium, and activated material,
Perform projections and calculations for future operations and e.g., decommissioning costs,
Continued education and training,
Communicating with team members who are unfamiliar with radiation and health effects,
Work with a team to perform typical health physicist functions such as dosimetry, leak tests, wipe tests, general surveying, and preparing operating procedures.
Problem Solver – you can identify areas for improvement and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Critical Thinker – you use reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, are skilled at assigning metrics to objectively evaluate options, and connect your work back to the application.
Bachelors or equivalent expertise in related disciplines (e.g., nuclear engineering, physics).
3+ years of hands-on work with radioactive material.
Experience with tritium and/or unsealed radioactive materials.
Experience using and operating a liquid scintillation counter.
Familiarity with vacuum systems.
Experience establishing a radiation safety program.
Involvement in the American Nuclear Society and/or the Health Physics Society.
