As the Director of Human Resources, you will be the anchor member of the people team at Health Note. You will help a growing startup create the policies and strategies that will develop and retain our best employees for years to come. You’ll serve as a liaison to all of our remote (US & international) employees. 

In this role, you will work on:

  • HR Operations - Demonstrate expertise and manage HR activities across the function including total rewards (benefits, 401(k), compensation), HR systems, programs (onboarding, performance management), and company policies (respectful workplace, travel, employee handbook).
  • Hiring - Help establish our unique employment proposition and support hiring managers in developing and executing on a recruiting and hiring strategy. Partner with leaders to develop job descriptions and interview plans so that our hiring process is efficient and leads to great outcomes.
  • Onboarding - Develop a thoughtful onboarding program that helps new hires quickly integrate and build connections to their work, the company, and one another. 
  • Total Rewards - Gather insights and data to ensure that our compensation & benefit programs are competitive, cost effective, compliant, and aligned with our values. 
  • HR Initiatives - Partner to develop and evolve our employee experience in order to engage, retain and develop high-performing employees and create an inclusive culture.
  • Employee Relations -  Develop trust across the business and counsel team members on employee relations questions and concerns, consult leaders and functional HR experts as needed.

You’ll thrive as the Director of HR if you:

  • Have 7+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • Have advanced project management skills with a proven ability to take initiatives from inception to completion
  • Possess knowledge (breadth and depth) of the employee lifecycle, with the ability to create a consistent, engaging and accessible experience for all team members
  • Understand the complexity of compliance for US labor laws 
  • Have a service oriented mindset with appropriate ethical standards demonstrating experience handling highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Demonstrate clear, consistent communication when interacting with our team and adapt approach to meet the needs of our diverse team
  • Have experience sourcing and working with a variety of vendors across the People function to accelerate progress towards our people experience goals

Bonus points for:

  • HR certification or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with a distributed team, ideally including international
  • Experience working at an early stage high growth tech startup
  • Bilingual Spanish


This role is remote-friendly anywhere in the United States. 


Our base compensation is flexible depending on experience. For this role the range is $90K-$150K.
