Engineers at Healthie play a key role in Healthie’s Web Engineering team, contributing to new feature development and enhancements. You'll occasionally handle production systems, supported by our monolithic architecture. Our tech stack includes Rails, React, Typescript, and GraphQL, with additional tools like Postgres and Redis. We prioritize a friendly code review process involving both managers and peers, ensuring input from engineers at every stage. Collaboration between the engineering and product teams ensures well-defined, efficiently scoped projects.

Responsibilities: 

Software Development and Technical Leadership:

    • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions.
    • Providing technical leadership and guidance to the development team.
    • Leading feature development, from concept to deployment.

Quality Assurance, Deployment, and Support:

    • Ensuring software quality through rigorous testing and optimization.
    • Managing deployment pipelines and ensuring reliable releases.
    • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.

Continuous Improvement and Collaboration:

    • Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
    • Staying current with technology trends and evaluating new tools and technologies.
    • Collaborating cross-functionally with designers and DevOps engineers to deliver features for our customers.

 

Qualifications: What we expect from you:

  • You have a track record of success: 6+ years recent experience shipping Rails applications to production environments with monolithic, service-oriented, or microservice architectures. Candidates from a healthcare or healthtech background will be prioritized.
  • You strive for Operational Excellence: Best practice experience with coding standards, refactoring, complexity reduction, Domain Driven Design, and schema design.
  • You bring hands-on experience: Experience with object oriented design and modularization of monolithic applications and have experience maintaining and upgrading Ruby and Rails-based production stacks.
  • Tools & Tech Experience: Our stack includes Rails, React, Typescript, GraphQL, Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq, RSpec, and Capybara.
    • Development and Testing: Experience with React, JavaScript, and TypeScript testing, along with writing unit and higher-level tests to ensure code quality and prevent regressions. Responsibility for structuring code bases with proper types and consistently writing production-ready code that accounts for edge cases and potential errors.
  • Prioritization matters: Ability to prioritize platform needs to both short term and long term business needs. 
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills: You care about people - your colleagues, our customers, and everyone around you. People want to work for and with you. You lead with influence, not authority.
  • Remote Work: Ability to deliver in a remote-first environment, regularly contributing to code review, actively looking for security vulnerabilities, systematically debugging customer-facing issues, working comfortably with both greenfield and legacy systems, and helping grow a DevOps culture.

  • Infrastructure and Deployment: Focus on infrastructure and monitoring aspects, including CI/CD construction and maintenance, hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP, and knowledge of IAAS technologies such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.
  • Application Architecture and Performance: Experience with application architecture and performance optimization. Responsibility for solving database query problems, application performance monitoring, object-oriented design (OOD), modularization of monolithic applications, and domain-driven design (DDD).

We are currently hiring for multiple positions across levels of our Engineering team. Your skills, experience, & achievement on our coding assessment will aid us in assisting an appropriate level for you:
The base salary for this role will depend on the following leveling:

Software Engineer: $130,000. - $160,000. per year + annual company bonus and benefits
Senior Software Engineer: $160,000. - $190,000. per year + annual company bonus and benefits

The target salary range for this position is part of a competitive total rewards package. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
