We are currently seeking a Fair Trade & Sustainability Intern who will help us foster our partnerships with artisan groups from around the globe. The main objective of this internship will be to support us in renewing our World Fair Trade guarantee. This is an important component of the Citizenry brand, our commitment to Fair Trade is deeply valued by our artisan partners, employees, and customers alike. This work will immerse you in Fair Trade, allow you to learn about many fascinating artisan groups, and challenge you to think outside the box. As no two days are ever alike, you’ll be learning a lot with us. The intern will report to the Sourcing Manager and will also have an opportunity to work more broadly with other team members.

What You’ll Do:

Work with The Citizery team to successfully prepare and execute a Fair Trade audit in early 2025

  • Help assemble World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) supporting documentation for new artisan partners 
  • Synthesize data from our Alchemer Fair Trade surveys to the WFTO Self-Assessment Report (SAR)
  • Analyze artisan partner social impact results and create corrective action plans on identified weaknesses
  • Collaborate directly with WFTO contacts to help ensure compliance
  • Partner with artisan groups around anticipated audit and what to expect
  • Support the Sourcing Team with updating the social impact survey and sharing it out with artisan partners 
  • Participate in upcoming meetings with the WFTO regarding The Citizenry’s guarantee

Who You Are:

  • Recommended major or focus of studies in International Relations, Social Work, Economics, Political Science, or a similarly related field
  • Quick learner, you have a knack for picking things up and running with it
  • Attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive deadlines
  • Creative problem solver, you identify a problem and quickly move to resolve it
  • Able to take the initiative and reach out to gain help or information where needed
  • Team player, you enjoy being part of a diverse, fun, and hardworking team
  • You are curious to learn about different cultures and the products they’re known for; interested in global economies
  • Flexibility, a willingness to pivot at a moment’s notice and switch course
  • Able to work at least 25-40 hours per week for at least 12 weeks

Additional Details: 

  • This is a temporary position headquartered in Dallas, TX.  
  • The expectation for this role is that the individual will ideally be onsite and available 2-3 days per week, working a hybrid schedule. Also, open to some time working remotely.
  • Targeted compensation range for this role: $18-20/hr, dependent upon experience.
