About the team

At Harry’s, we care deeply about our people and make investments to build a culture where people can grow and develop and an environment where people feel a sense of belonging.  Given the importance of our people, our People team is highly respected by the business.  We partner closely with leaders on a strategic level as they build their teams, as well as support them day-to-day.

Today, Harry’s is a team of 500+ people across the US, UK and Canada with another 600+ in our factory in Eisfeld, Germany.  We support the teams that work on all of Harry’s brands - Harry’s, Flamingo, CatPerson, Headquarters and Lumē.

About the role

We recently created our Growth & Emerging Brands business unit to provide the autonomy and flexibility for our newer and quickly scaling brands to move fast.  This new role would support all the People needs of our newer brands (CatPerson, incubated within Harry’s and Lumē, recently acquired by Harry’s) as well as our Harry’s Labs team that runs all of our M&A and innovation processes.  We believe Growth & Emerging Brands will be a critical part of our success at Harry’s going forward and plan to continue to add new brands and businesses to our portfolio.

As the Director of People for Growth & Emerging Brands, you will be partnering with Founders, CEOs and Leaders of these brands - from the Chief Growth Officer at Harry’s to the Founder and CEO of Lumē to the CEO of CatPerson.  You will help them design, hire, scale and retain high performing, inclusive, engaged teams.  While you will initially leverage the existing Harry’s recruiting team, we would expect that over time it may make sense for you to have dedicated recruiters reporting to you.

You will lead the People side of integration for all acquired brands and help implement and scale any processes all brands need - from review processes to promotions.  While you can leverage Harry’s systems and processes, you will have the freedom to build and adapt as needed.  You will partner closely with our People Operations team who will support all the operational aspects, including payroll, benefits and compliance.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping how our Growth & Emerging Brand group works to ensure brands are supported where helpful but also have the autonomy they need to grow.

What you will accomplish

  • Coach and advise Founders, CEOs and leaders on how to evolve org structures and ways of working as their business scales.
  • Manage the People side of integration, ensuring we continue to empower acquired brands to grow their businesses, creating a different approach to typical integration to ensure acquired businesses retain the magic that has made them so successful
  • Develop strategy for what People processes to harmonize, when and how (e.g. leveling or compensation).
  • Drive cross cultural understanding working closely with leaders from H’s and acquired businesses
  • Design and implement People processes for new brands that meet the needs of the stage and size of their business (e.g. performance reviews, compensation, promotion process), leveraging H’s tools where helpful and building from scratch as needed.
  • Partner with leaders on their trickiest people problems - from performance management to coaching to team engagement.
  • Manage, design and build a team of 2-3 people to support the Growth & Emerging Brands business unit. Your team may include PBPs, People Generalists and potentially recruiters over time.

This should describe you

  • Experienced leadership influencer.
  • Deep integration experience.
  • Delightful collaborator.
  • Highly organized doer.
  • Employee Relations whiz.
  • Honest and direct communicator.

Here's who you'll work with

  • Initially reporting to our Chief People Officer, may report into our VP of People over time
  • Owning People Business Partner function for the business unit initially, with the potential to own Recruiting for the business unit as well
  • You will work closely with our Growth & Emerging Brands teams
