Background 

The data science team at Happify Health is developing the next generation of emotionally-aware, AI-based chatbots. The Software Engineer will be a part of a nimble and unique team that includes data scientists, developers, and clinicians, combining cutting edge deep learning / AI with the latest evidence-based behavioral intervention science to develop and evolve an innovative conversational agent. 

Responsibilities

  • Implement complex user interactions using a range of dialog management techniques 
  • Contribute to architecture and design of dialog manager code
  • Develop reusable dialog templates 

Required knowledge and experience

  • BS or MS in CS/EE
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, as follows:
  • Proven experience working with conversational agents such as Amazon Alexa, Google Cloud DialogFlow, ZenDesk AnswerBot, and IBM Watson Assistant
  • JSON
  • Python
  • Dialog management models and techniques (slot-filling, statistical dialog management, mixed initiative, FSM, backup prompts, etc.)
  • Experience working in small and diverse teams, preferably in a startup environment 

Great to have

Experience working with data scientists or machine learning engineers

Background in psychology or past experience implementing psychological interventions or assessments

Reporting structure

This position reports directly to Happify Health's Chief Data Science officer
