About the Team:

While the rest of the organization is focused on providing support to external clients, the Internal Payroll team is focused on providing support to the Gusties. This team handles all internal tax and payroll functions, and we are a service-oriented group of troubleshooters. We are looking to add another collaborative, payroll savvy person to our internal team.  

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Review and process global payroll for the US, Canada, Mexico and Turkiye.
  • Act as the first point of contact for all internal payroll related questions, responding to inquiries and fulfilling any reporting requests. 
  • Maintain the time and attendance system and support the data transfer to Workday. 
  • Register state and local payroll tax jurisdictions, and maintain tax registrations in the system.
  • Review and reconcile quarterly tax filings and annual W-2 forms prior to distribution. 
  • Work with internal business partners to answer questions or help resolve discrepancies. 
  • Assist with streamlining process and procedures to maintain property internal controls in an effort to increase efficiency and accuracy. 
  • Procure payroll journal entries and assist with GL account reconciliations for month-end close. 
  • Participate in annual 401(k), Workers Comp and financial audits.
  • Perform other duties and assignments within the Payroll department as requested. 

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Workday experience required.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of data at all times.
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skill in Excel.
  • Ability to independently and as a part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field is preferred.

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $77,000 - $95,000 in Denver & most major metro locations, and $93,000 - $115,000 for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.


Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas. 

When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
