The VP Agency Development, North America will be in charge of driving sales strategy, bringing in new business, helping the broader sales team grow existing business and managing senior-level relationships with media holding companies as well as independent agencies.
This role will also be focused on striking Supply Path Optimization (SPO) partnerships and increasing annual Open Market spend from agencies across the GumGum SSP for Display and Video. GumGum is looking for a sales leader who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, has a growth mindset, while also keeping an eye towards scalability and efficiency. To be successful in this role, the incumbent must be an analytically driven as well as a creative problem solver who has experience overseeing SPO/Open Market efforts for a Supply Side Platform or equivalent, and has a proven track record of putting deals together with brands and agencies. It is paramount that the VP be resourceful and collaborative with agency and brand clients, as well as managed services sellers in North America.
Note: GumGum currently operates in a ‘work from home’ virtual environment with sporadic opportunities for in-person business and morale events (health guidelines permitting). There will not be any requirement to go into the office on a daily basis moving forward. GumGum is only open to hiring remote candidates who are residents in the following states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MD, MI, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and MN, however prefers candidates located in New York and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Drive revenue
- Manage complex demand and SPO partnerships directly with holding co and independent agencies, as well as advertisers (occasionally).
- Establish trust
- Position GumGum as a marketing leading and trusted exchange filled with quality inventory to meet the needs of our open market buyers.
- Omnichannel selling
- Develop a trusted relationship with the existing managed services sales team who is focused on GumGum's core product offering. The VP Agency Development and the VP of Media Sale should partner to maximize revenue within holding companies.
- Internal alignment and communications
- Collaborate with other department leads and executives throughout the company to drive overall demand to our open market exchange business in a well coordinated effort, such as Supply, Programmatic DSP teams, and Product.
- Marketing Strategy
- Partner with marketing to develop a marketing strategy to build awareness and lead gen with buyers as part of our overall omnichannel strategy.
- Dashboards & Analytics
- Implement pipeline tools and tracking systems to increase daily/monthly/annual revenue targets while also allowing for effective forecasting and KPI tracking.
- Mobility
- Travel as necessary in support of business objectives (prospect/client meetings, conferences, internal meetings)
- Product Needs
- This person is expected to produce feedback of client needs from a product perspective and pair each with the appropriate revenue opportunity.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of Leadership / Senior Sales experience in sales and business development.
- 3+ years Experience working at an SSP and responsible for structuring SPO, Preferred SSP Deals, and other initiatives to generate open market demand.
- Experience in dealing with and active connections with senior level key decision makers at the biggest agencies in the world.
- Past experiences developing and implementing complex strategies across a large number of internal and external stakeholders
- Able to navigate internal channel conflict due to different product offerings
- Solution leadership: able to shape the roadmap of features requested by clients and lead discussion in relationship with our Product Management and R&D team
- Understand the dynamics of the sell-side, most notably operations of supply side platforms and ad serving tech
- Significant depth with programmatic display and video, including technology, operations and go-to-market
- Superb communicator and service-oriented leader
- Ability to present effectively to C-level executives and confidently navigate challenges
- Growth mindset: willing to take risks, ask questions, and learn from others for the benefit of the business
- Ability to quickly connect the dots between all functions and possess a deep understanding of GumGum's technology, service offerings, and capabilities.
- Motivated to collaborate across multiple departments and manage internal relationships to GumGum’s benefit
