Guild is hiring a VP, Product - Payments to lead the execution of education payment processes as well as integration into Guild Financial systems for hundreds of millions of dollars in education spend for students through Guild’s rails on behalf of their employers. 

You will be operating as a cross-functional domain leader responsible for scaling one of Guild’s critical service lines.  In this role you will drive a multi-year vision, define product and operational strategy and roadmap as well as build a world-class team.  We are looking for someone that brings together a deep passion and experience for providing a high quality customer experience with the ability to think critically about current state processes and systems. You’ll do this while looking across the customer value chain to recommend and implement process improvements and product enhancements towards scale, efficiency and accuracy. In this role you will identify areas to increase standardization and reduce manual processes while maintaining quality and accuracy across design systems, work flows, and staffing strategies to manage peaks and valleys in volume.  You will work closely with Finance and Accounting, business leaders responsible for Employer Experience and Learning Marketplace, Legal and Compliance, as well as Product and Technical leaders across the organization. 

As the VP, Product - Payments, you will:

  • Be accountable for the successful end-to-end delivery of our education payments business line, including product and operations
  • Work closely with the CFO office to streamline invoicing, revenue recognition, payment facilitation and accounting 
  • Collaborate with internal partners to develop a cohesive payment operations strategy across payment modes (direct payment to certified partners, sponsorship, reimbursement)
  • Prioritize system, process, product, and operational improvements 
  • Develop the business case and advise investments in new product and service features for students, employers, academic providers, and internal users
  • Gather business requirements for existing and new features in business systems, using process flows, requirements, user stories, etc.
  • Help build process and program improvements and support the implementation of operational changes for new/existing Partner launches
  • Develop standard operating procedures to help our coaches scale our practices
  • Respectfully challenge the status quo and act as a role model for Lean thinking
  • Ask the questions that will help the team continuously improve our speed, accuracy and service quality outcomes
  • Set service standards, define critical metrics, and ensure team and individual accountability 
  • Optimize workflows and staffing to accommodate known seasonality 
  • Analyze data to derive internal and external insights 
  • Ensure the highest degree of accuracy and compliance for individual requests against each employer’s policy 
  • Coordinate with Enrollment, Student Services, Finance, and Enterprise Sales/Client Success teams to solve problems and call out issues quickly

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated leadership in the Payments domain
  • 8+ years of Product management and leadership experience; 5+ years in a B2B space
  • 3+ years experience in running operations. You enjoy being challenged by balancing day-to-day operations, while also identifying innovative ways to drive step function change 
  • Strong business aptitude – be comfortable defining strategy, identifying and modeling business opportunities, and crafting and executing on go-to-market plans
  • Strong engineering aptitude – be effective at using your technical depth and the voice of the customer to partner with and earn trust of a world-class Engineering organization
  • You don't shy away from conflict and are adept at managing multiple partners
  • Experience scaling a team, processes, and systems in a fast growing environment
