Ponder is a product developed by the company Disputas, and serves as a digital pedagogical application designed to facilitate active learning for courses in critical thinking at the university level. Through the application, a user may analyze the argument in a text, and evaluate the strength of the argument. Analysis and evaluation happens through a user-friendly click-based interface, and the logic of the argument represented through a graphical visualization.
At this stage, we have a working MVP (Minimal Viable Product), and will conduct extensive testing and refinements of the software throughout the summer. We might also add some new features if everything runs smoothly. We have a pilot agreement with The University of Bergen to test the product the fall of 2021. The main objective for the Disputas team the summer of 2021 will be to make sure the product is ready for this pilot.
Concretely, the objectives for the summer internship will be to get to know the code-base for Ponder, and to assist the team in refining and further developing the product so that it is ready for the pilot in the fall.
Activities and tasks:
Ponder is coded in React with Typescript. We use Jira as a project management tool, and follow scrum by working in sprints. At the beginning of each week, the development-team will have a meeting to assign concrete tasks, the code for which is committed by the end of the week. These tasks will vary, but will for the most part consist in implementing the design for Ponder, fixing bugs, and implementing new features that enhances the user experience. We will be testing a whole lot during the summer, so the approach will be both data-driven, and user-driven.
Application deadline: 30. april, 2021.
