We’re looking for a smart, talented, enthusiastic producer who can encourage their team to be the very best it can be while obsessing over animal stories! The Associate Managing Producer at The Dodo will be responsible for a team of video editor/producers who create the heartwarming stories that makes us the No. 1 animal brand on social. 

You will have experience pitching and producing stories, a history of working closely with editors, and you’ll be able to define what makes a Dodo story feel on brand. This role is a full-time position with the possibility to be remote and some flex hours; you will manage junior and mid-level editors and producers, and will be a key member of the video department’s management team and a key leader at The Dodo. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Manage a select team of talented and creative editor/producers who produce and edit their own projects from start to finish; you will source story ideas, approve pitches, lead team brainstorms, and encourage your team to produce high-performing, fun, uplifting content that leaves our audience feeling warm and fuzzy 

    Maintain a deep understanding of all social platform performance best practices, and actively continue to educate the team and identify new best practices via weekly discussions with other managers as well as your own team 

    Foster a sense of community within your team via games, extracurricular meetings, or other meetups

    Conduct regular 1:1’s and team meetings to set expectations, manage performance, accept and provide feedback, and provide each employee with continual growth opportunities

    Work with other video leads to streamline workflows, boost team performance, and expand talent relationships with contributors 

    Write clever, engaging social copy for your team

SUCCESS WILL LOOK LIKE:

  • Growing The Dodo’s social following and distributed revenue across social platforms 
  • Maintaining standards of excellence for your team’s videos and constantly pushing for innovation and new storytelling methods, inspiring your reports to think outside the box  
  • Making decisions with business needs in mind, always working to foster teamwork and grow the business 
  • Helping to produce compelling, on-brand content that plays forward our best practices and grows our audience base and revenue 
  • Working with your team to find new ways to tell stories while still keeping true to the Dodo brand

MUST HAVES:

3+ years of hands-on relevant experience in producing video content for social distribution

  • At least 6+ months’ experience managing direct reports 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to give quick, direct and effective feedback 
  • An obsession with animal content, and the social smarts to discover new search methods and sources 
  • Expert storyteller who can teach others how to create a satisfying arc, work effectively with talent and produce fun, unexpected moments/nuggets 
  • Strong writing and communication skills 
  • Foreign languages are a plus!
