You will be leading the design and development of our next-generation app framework, which will serve as the foundation of business-critical internal & external interactive data dashboards.

  • Expressive and flexible UI for non-engineers (e.g data scientists)
  • High performance data processing and visualisation (we’re data-heavy)

What you’ll do:

  • Create a brand new framework to enable our internal analysts and users to rapidly build & deploy new solutions and visualizations to tackle agricultural and climate challenges 
  • Explore new methods, technologies, and tools to enable our analysts to build/deploy faster and with greater consistency across our product range
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver on the broader product vision

What we're looking for

  • Someone who enjoys building tools and abstractions that improve the efficiency of other people’s work
  • Knowledgeable and effective at shipping high quality code with an eye for user experience and good design
  • A builder of a productive and collaborative team, who is able to communicate technical concepts clearly and efficiently. 
  • A great team player – someone with a point of view, who knows how to humbly express it
  • Open-minded about languages/tools/frameworks, and able to make good decisions about which to use (and when) to solve a particular problem

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of modern web development concepts; experience in architecting and designing web applications
  • Proficient in one or more modern front-end frameworks (e.g Angular, React, Vue)
  • Familiar with design systems, knows how to build UI components at scale
  • Proficient in server-side Javascript, plus one or more backend languages (we use Python)
  • Familiar with SQL databases (we use Postgres) and RESTful API concepts
  • Experience with cloud services (we use AWS)
  • BS in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience

Nice to have

  • Significant experience in designing and developing Web/UI toolkits/large-scale web application 
  • Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals (e.g algorithms, data structures)
  • Experience in data analysis and relevant tools (e.g. pandas) will be a huge plus
  • Experience in data visualization and relevant tools (e.g D3, Highchart, Mapbox)
  • Experience in technical leadership, leading project teams, and setting technical direction
