The Role

Does everything you touch turn to green? GTI is looking for a Grow Technician – Integrated Pest Management (IPM) to join our cultivation team. The IPM Tech provides horticulture and pest-management expertise which supports the activities and operations of our cultivation department, while abiding by laws, rules, policies, procedures and operational guidelines. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, positive individual with a nursery, horticulture, entomology or plant pathology background, who can think of no better way to spend the workday than potting, pruning, and tending to the health of our cannabis plants with expert care and precision.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in potting, trimming/deleafing, fertilizing, and watering cannabis plants
  • Application of pesticides, cleaning products, and beneficial organism
  • Perform routine scouting of plant population for potential problems
  • Manage and track biological control agent applications
  • Properly document application of cleaning products/pesticides
  • Manage and track cultivation waste
  • Maintain proper plant counts, tracking information for inventory
  • Follow detailed plan and timeline for plant production from clone to harvest
  • Document any and all activity in Ohio traceability program
  • Maintain open communication with management team and co-workers
  • Follow all SOPs, verbal directives, training information and policies when performing duties
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in horticulture/nursery, entomology, or plant pathology required
  • Pesticide Applicator Certification desired
  • Some college preferred
  • Highly organized, with an obsessive attention to detail
  • Experienced in Excel, data collection and entry
  • Research skills and familiarity with scientific method preferred
  • Must be able to read and correctly follow written instructions and product labels
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus on one task for extended periods of time
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently throughout a workday with given directives

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
  • Physical demands – May be required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds (200 pounds with assistance)
  • Some exposure, with proper personal protective equipment, to regulated chemicals such as fertilizers, cleaning agents, and pesticides
  • Must be able to perform duties while wearing proper PPE as required (i.e. respirators, googles, coveralls, gloves)
  • Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil).

  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must be approved by the D.O.A. to receive an Agent badge
