The Role

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing, planning, directing, organizing, coordinating, and leading the Cultivation team for a designated portion of the facility. This Supervisor will lead the teams and will ensure quality, compliance, and consistency of service delivery, and will focus on higher level planning, forecasting, and general business activities of this group. 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage, supervise, and direct the activities of the Cultivation team; make recommendations regarding hiring, discipline, termination, or advancement of employees in department  
  • Develop and ensure SOPs are being followed for all cultivation activities  
  • Lead and support the teams, identify gaps and weaknesses and allocate resources accordingly  
  • Keep detailed records and submit reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, or as needed  
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with Operations Manager, Head Grower, Assistant Head Growers, Harvest Supervisor, Outdoor Production Supervisor and Leads  
  • Work collaboratively with Operations Manager and Head Grower on processes and schedules for cultivation. 
  • Assist Team Leads with conflict resolution within the department and address team member concerns and questions  
  • Monitor employee progress; guide, train and develop employees in the accomplishment of their duties and goals through professional growth; write, conduct, and oversee individual performance reviews/evaluations of department employees  
  • Hold employees accountable for performance; identify poor performance or behavior and coach employee   
  • Lead weekly team meetings and participate in daily manager meetings as needed 
  • Coordinate with Operations Manager and Head Grower to ensure staffing needs are met based on the schedules as well as in forecasting future labor needs   
  • Work with cultivation management to establish and manage current and long-range objectives, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), strategic plans and procedures  
  • Direct and promote employee safety through Company safety program and create a culture of safety and teamwork in the department and throughout the facility  
  • Ensure all cultivation tools and machinery are in working order and coordinate with the maintenance department to troubleshoot/fix any mechanical issues  
  • Provide regular feedback and support to leads and team members in all cultivation related activities  
  • Collaborate with the Quality/Compliance department to ensure all aspects of quality & compliance are maintained, including records and documentation, and improved on as required  
  • Identify concepts and plans for cost and productivity improvements  
  • Manage PTO (paid time off) requests and approvals of the staff; Ensure employees understand and abide by PTO and Attendance policy 

Qualifications 

  • Associate degree or equivalent work-related experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • 2+ years supervisory experience working in a manufacturing, batching, facilities or related industry required  
  • Experience in managing employee concerns and resolution  
  • Proven success in leading multidisciplinary teams to the highest quality work  
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with different groups, changing deadlines, priorities, and requirements  
  • Experience working in a highly regulated space is preferred  
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense, and resourcefulness  
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast paced environment  
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally  

Additional Requirements 

  • Must pass any and all required background checks 
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry 
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age 
  • Must be approved by the state badging agency to receive an Agent badge 

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
  • Strong odors of extracted cannabis and cannabis plants on a consistent basis
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds on occasion.
  • Work involves daily exposure to allergens (such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil).
