The Role

Does everything you touch turn to green? GTI is looking for a Cultivation Technician to join our cultivation team. The Cultivation Technician provides manual labor which supports the activities and operations of our cultivation department, while abiding by laws, rules, policies, procedures and operational guidelines. Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated, positive individual who can think of no better way to spend the work day than potting, pruning, and tending to the health of our cannabis plants with expert care and precision.

Responsibilities

  • Plant maintenance in veg cycle:
    • Topping plants
    • Bottoming plants
    • Transplanting
    • Mixing soil
    • Scouting for disease or potential insects
    • Training plants
  • Flower:
    • Move plants from veg to flower
    • Stick irrigation emitters into plants
    • Lay trellis netting and work plants into place
    • Defoliate and prune plants
  • Harvest:
    • Prepare room for harvest
    • Harvest/ take down plants
    • Defoliate and break plants into smaller pieces
    • Hang plants on dry rack
    • Clean both dry and flower rooms in between harvests
  • Cleanliness:
    • Sweeping, mopping and all other required cleaning
    • Cleaning of the plant housing devices
    • Maintenance and cleaning of the plant tables
    • Maintenance of the plant pots
    • Reporting any issues to management to ensure a timely fix

Qualifications

  • Previous experience with plant life highly desirable – yes, your home garden absolutely counts!
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus on one task for extended periods of time
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently throughout a workday with given directives

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
  • Physical demands – May be required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds (200 pounds with assistance)

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass any and all required background checks
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Must be approved by the NJ CRC to receive an Agent badge via a fingerprint investigation
