Summary
The Systems Engineer will provide leadership toward deployment of requirements management processes and tools for the engineering department. Requirements management is key to ensuring the successful execution of aerospace projects by effectively managing requirements through the lifecycle of each project. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will support development of substantiation and safety documents for aircraft modification projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of requirements management tools and processes, promoting best practices within the organization.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including engineers, designers, and clients, to gather, analyze, and translate high-level business needs into detailed technical requirements.
- Create clear and concise requirement documents, including functional specifications, system requirements, and design specifications, while maintaining traceability between requirements and project deliverables.
- Manage changes to requirements throughout the project lifecycle and support the assessment of their impact on project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Develop substantiation and safety documents (e.g., Functional Hazard Assessment, System Safety Analysis, Electrical Loads Analysis), create verification test plans based on requirements, and participate in validation activities to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Identify and assess risks related to requirements, propose mitigation strategies to minimize project risks.
- Identify and report metrics related to requirements management to project leaders.
- Maintain regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work, and working full shifts.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Systems Engineering or equivalent, minimum 4 years aerospace industry experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., 14 CFR Part 25, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754) is preferred.
- Experience using requirements management tools such as PTC Codebeamer software is preferred.
- Ability to work constructively with other departments to gain consensus regarding requirements applicable to each program.
- Working knowledge of aircraft engineering processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, use hands to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and have close/color vision ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.
The expected WA salary range for this position is between $84,742.50 - $124,289.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
