Conditions permitting, teams will meet in person a few weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly's hubs, currently in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a shared workspace in Krakow.

The opportunity
Grammarly empowers people to thrive and connect, whenever and wherever they communicate. Every day, 30 million people and 30,000 teams around the world use our AI-powered writing assistant. All of this begins with our team collaborating in a values-driven and learning-oriented environment.
To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Back-End Software Engineer to join our Growth Platform team. This role will be responsible for designing, building, and integrating the applications, services, data, and processes that connect the dots between our Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams. There will be a wide range of challenges and opportunities to build services and APIs, create new applications, integrate first-party and third-party applications, and design systems for data storage and analytics. By joining this team, which focuses on rearchitecting, building, and integrating these essential go-to-market systems, the Back-End Software Engineer will play a critical role in achieving Grammarly’s aggressive growth goals.
Grammarly’s engineers and researchers have the freedom to innovate and uncover breakthroughs—and, in turn, influence our product roadmap. The complexity of our technical challenges is growing rapidly as we scale our interfaces, algorithms, and infrastructure. Read more about our stack or hear from our team on our technical blog.

You will also work closely with our different functional teams, including Demand Generation, Paid Acquisition, Affiliates, Lifecycle Marketing, and Revenue Operations, as well as our Engineering teams, such as User Identity, Billing, Core Data, and Grammarly Business, to increase user conversion and ultimately drive user engagement.
In this role, you will:
- Design the architecture to support our massive marketing and sales engines.
- Build tools that will enable us to achieve more efficient spending.
- Open revenue streams related to our promotional channels.
- Collaborate with both our B2B and B2C teams to propel profitable growth.
We’re looking for someone who
- Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
- Is able to collaborate in person 2–4 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
- Has 6+ years of experience working in an enterprise SaaS environment—and, as a plus, has practical experience delivering sales and marketing projects.
- Has experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API platforms, as well as an understanding of data storage and migration strategies.
- Has experience designing and building integrations between first-party and third-party applications and services.
- Can build web applications or services in Java.
- Knows security best practices for web applications and internal systems.
- Has a history of partnering with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders and communicating trade-offs related to spending and bandwidth.
