Description

Graham Capital Management, L.P. is seeking an Economist to join our Economics team and help forecast central bank policy in developed markets. The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of the drivers of central bank decision-making, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.

Graham offers a fast-paced and exciting environment, as the Economists sit on the trading desk and help analyze information in real time.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing central bank communications, understanding broad themes in monetary policy, and collaborating with the Chief Economist and Economist to develop views on key central bank events
  • Understanding market consensus expectations for central bank policy and the risks to those consensus views
  • Studying economic data, analyzing key data releases in real-time, and determining implications for business cycle and central bank policy
  • Updating GDP and inflation forecasts according to incoming data and enhancing existing spreadsheets
  • Providing written analysis of key central bank developments and data releases to be shared with portfolio management teams, as well as investors

Requirements

  • 7-15 years of experience at the Federal Reserve Board, regional Reserve bank, sell-side bank, or hedge fund
  • No advanced degrees are required
  • Passion for Economics with a strong understanding of central bank policy, especially the Federal Reserve, European Central Bank, and Bank of England
  • Strong analytic capabilities and communication skills
  • Deep understanding of US economic data and a sense of key data in other developed markets
  • Creative and independent thinker; self-starter
  • Strong excel skills (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Haver Analytics (preferred)

Our current hybrid work arrangement requires that all employees be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and commute into our office Mondays through Thursdays, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

Base Salary Range

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $180,000 to $225,000. The anticipated range is based on information as of the time this post was generated. The applicable annual base salary or hourly rate paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors, including without limitation the nature and extent of prior experience, skills, and qualifications.

Base salary or rate does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
