About The Role

We are hiring our first marketer to help us build the function and tell the story of Graft to the world. We’re looking for someone who can help us build a strong foundation to scale. The initial focus will be on understanding our target audience, developing our positioning & messaging, and helping us define our story. In this role, you will work closely with our founding team, particularly our CEO (former head of ML at Slack), to build awareness for Graft-both our mission and our product. We are looking for someone with deep product marketing experience, but also comfortable with content and growth marketing as you will own all aspects of marketing to start. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Marketing strategy: Set goals, plan, and prioritize across all areas of marketing.
  • Marketing team growth: You are the first marketing hire, but we expect for you to grow the team and hire marketers that are passionate about driving growth and telling our story.
  • Execute marketing plans: Do the work to support the team and our goals.
  • Cross-functional leader: Collaborate with the product and sales teams to understand the target market and develop messaging and positioning that resonates with potential customers.
  • Ability to build out the marketing function: We do not have all of our tools, processes, and workflows built out yet. You will own building this out, by figuring out what works, testing, and scaling.
  • Product Marketing: Gain a deep understanding of our audience, develop our positioning and messaging, and communicate how Graft’s platform will completely transform the way customers approach CS, sales, legal, and more. 
  • Growth Marketing: Launch, track, and optimize programs/campaigns across multiple channels to move prospects and customers down the funnel. Experiment with the channels and content types we produce to meet our audience where they are—help the org take creative risks to find new ways to connect with and delight data teams, business users, and CTOs alike.
  • Content Marketing: Own the content calendar and tell the story of our brand and company in order to engage prospects, customers, candidates, and partners. 
  • Brand: Collaborate on the company story and vision with the founding team and make sure our communications add value to our audience and maintain a high quality bar. 
  • KPIs: Manage the marketing budget, ensure we are operating efficiently, and meet metrics goals.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, including at SaaS companies with a self-serve/freemium business model and top down sales. Bonus points if you’ve worked at an early stage startup.
  • Experience hiring marketers and managing them effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication chops
  • Strong sense of curiosity and first principles thinking
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both a technical and  non-technical audience.
  • Breadth in all areas of marketing, depth in at least two of these areas: product marketing, corporate or content marketing, growth marketing
  • High quality bar. You've developed marketing strategies and tactics that put the customer first and understand to hit revenue goals at the same time.
  • Scrappy and data-driven experimentation mindset. You are comfortable rolling up your sleeves, and want to work at a seed stage company. 
  • You know how to balance short-term goals and long-term goals.
  • You have recommendations for tools, contractors, etc to build out the foundation of a marketing team that can scale effectively.

Compensation Range: $140,000 - $220,000
