The Finance Team at Gradient is seeking a qualified candidate for an immediate full-time job opening for the position of Manager, Cost Accounting.  This position reports to the Controller with a dotted line to CFO, and is responsible for reviewing financial records, researching the market rate for key business costs and adjusting the company ledger to accurately reflect COGS in Financial Statements. This is a hybrid (mostly remote) role and has a salary band of $110,000-175,000 + equity and benefits. 

Responsibilities:

  • Set standard costs of manufactured goods
  • Review existing purchases, record data, recommend new cost-efficient and financially feasible cost options, and oversee manufacturing BOMS
  • Establish costs of business processes such as inventory, administration, labor, shipping, etc.
  • Perform account reconciliations and wall to wall physical inventory
  • Assist in general ledger preparation and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
  • Validate revenue and cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close
  • Assist Controller with preparation of financial reporting, cost variance and margin analysis
  • Prepare audit reports and presenting their findings to management
  • Prepare annual budget and quarterly forecast
  • Recommend changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
  • Advise executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data
  • Manage Fixed Assets in the accounting books
  • Support other company accountants with invoicing and capital expenditure
  • Identify, analyze, and implement opportunities for process and system improvement, reporting accuracy and effectiveness, develop consistent reporting metrics, and make recommendations for enhancement
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance/Accounting or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous accounting with manufacturing environment experience
  • Exceptional skills with Microsoft Office products, with expert level Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as ability to cross-collaborate with all departments and levels within the Company
  • Exceptional ability in preparing well-argued and structured presentations to senior management
  • Proficient functional knowledge of management/KPI reporting, profitability reporting & analysis, predictive analytics, planning & forecasting, budgeting, enterprise performance management, and internal financial reporting
