About the Role:  

The Accounting Manager will be a critical senior member of the finance organization, with a broad set of responsibilities. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in technical accounting and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. A “roll-up-your sleeves” mentality, strong problem-solving attitude and willingness to be intimately involved in all aspects of the company is essential and critical to the role. Key Responsibilities:  

  • Assist and drive the timeliness of the month-end close process, including management of the month-end close checklist, creating journal entries, and performing balance sheet reconciliations.  
  • Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual external financial statements and internal financial profitability reports for management or the board of directors. 
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly financial transaction processing including disbursements, fixed assets, cash, credit cards, debt, equity, stock options, general ledger, and chart of accounts. 
  • Prepare journal entries, monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and reconciliations of support ledgers to general ledger and cashflow reports.  
  • Manage accounts payable activities including processing invoices, routing invoices for approval and executing payments via our AP automation software. 
  • Take ownership of the company’s credit card processes to align with company policy and budget.  
  • Review employee expense reports to ensure alignment with company policies; providing feedback to employees as needed.  
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reporting of financial analytics and business metrics versus business plan / budget to management. 
  • Interface with third party auditors and tax professionals to ensure timely audit/review including development of supporting schedules and compliance with internal controls. 
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures for vendors, employees, treasury, and general ledger. Maintain current knowledge on accounting trends and best practices. 

Qualifications: 

  • 6+ years of related experience with 3+ years of public accounting experience; CPA license is preferred but not required.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles including closing a set of books. 
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP / IFRS.
  • Expert level MS Excel skills, including advanced formulas. Ability to design, create, and report on complex financial transactions which require manipulation and extraction of large amounts of data. 
  • Positive attitude and team player with a "no job is too big or too small” mindset. 
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting systems; experience with NetSuite preferred. 
  • Strong project management skills: ability to effectively interface with all levels and departments within the company. 
  • Prior experience with FP&A at a growing company or startup environment a plus. 
  • BS in Finance or Accounting or MBA.
