Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Bring expertise in material synthesis and advanced characterization of cathode active materials.
- Design and explore novel cathode materials for Gotion’s next generation battery products.
- Collaborate with internal cell technology and cell engineering teams to validate and scale the technologies.
- Act as the battery materials expert interfacing with internal teams, external vendors, and customers.
Required Qualifications:
- MS/PhD in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, and related fields, or relevant degrees with 0-1 year of hands-on experience in lithium-ion battery industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with battery materials synthesis and processing techniques including solid-state synthesis, co-precipitation, sol-gel, and/or hydrothermal synthesis techniques.
- Strong understanding of materials characterization tools such as SEM, XRD, XPS, Raman, BET, TGA/DSC, or ICP and electrochemical evaluation tools to measure charge-discharge cycling, rate capability, CV, and EIS.
- Scaling up experience is a plus.
- Understanding the trends in current state-of-the-art and emerging cell chemistries. Ability to distinguish the difference between practical solutions and unrealistic ideas.
- Experience and ability to work in a chemistry lab setting.
- Ability to carry out design of experiments.
- Can convey technical information in non-technical format at varying levels of technical competence, including executive leadership.
- Critical problem-solving skills: ability to ask the right people, the right questions at the right time in the right way!
- Curiosity: demonstrate level of interest that enables inventiveness.

For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $70,000 and $100,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
