About the Role: 

As a Data Engineer - Vehicle, you will be involved and responsible for full ownership of Vehicle and Telematics-related data pipelines and metrics. You will have the opportunity to be the first Data Engineer hired on the Vehicle Team, which offers a unique opportunity to architect and build a scalable system tailored to Vehicle and Telematics use cases.

The Vehicle Team is responsible for advancing the interoperability of Motive’s devices with vehicles in the field. As a member of this team, you’ll help drive improvement of Motive’s current feature set and future features related to Vehicle and Telematics.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Lead and drive from requirements, scoping, design, development, and deployment of data pipelines and metrics for the Vehicle Team.

  • Architecting, developing, and scaling the data pipelines related to Vehicle and Telematics use cases.

  • Measuring, reporting, and continuously improving pipeline health, including execution times, cost of running data processing jobs in production, rate of experimentation, and reducing iteration time

  • Leading new design and data architecture for Vehicle and Telematics use cases.

 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and supporting highly scalable data systems and services in Python and SQL

  • Experience building & running large-scale data pipelines and using technologies like Airflow, Snowflake, Kubernetes, and/or AWS

  • Experience in data modeling and data architecture optimized for big data patterns

  • Excellent automation, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Good understanding of operations and building distributed systems at scale.

  • Excellent verbal and written skills. You collaborate effectively with other teams and communicate clearly about your work.

  • Vehicle telematics experience is a plus

 

 

Pay Transparency
Your compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. The compensation range for this position will depend on where you reside. Motive uses three geographic zones to determine pay range. For this role, the compensation ranges are:

$146,000$200,750 USD
U.S. metropolitan areas: Los Angeles, San Diego, New York City Area, Seattle, Washington D.C.
$132,000$180,950 USD
Other locations in the United States
$117,000$160,600 USD
