Scholarship recipients will receive funding for a four-year degree at Golden Door Scholars regional partner school beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. Additional benefits include mentorship, career coaching and fellowship.
Students who have applied to or are interested in other colleges not considered a GDS partner school should still plan to apply. We will support students at non-partner schools in the regional areas of NC, SC, and GA on a case-by-case basis with a maximum of $5,000.00 per semester for up to 8 semesters.
Applicants MUST be willing to pursue majors aligned with Golden Door Scholars’ preferred majors list. Software engineering, nursing, data analytics, business analytics, and digital marketing are a few popular career paths that meet these criteria. The full list of majors can be found here.

A 500-word essay explaining the following:
How do you plan to use your unique background and experiences to make a positive difference in your community and at your future college?
Why are you interested in joining the Golden Door Scholar community?
A 2-minute video answering the following questions:
Where are you from?
What are your career aspirations?
What are you passionate about? It could be related to your work, hobbies, or any other areas where you find immense fulfillment.

The deadline to apply for the Golden Door Scholarship is Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.

Disclaimer 3: Receiving the Golden Door Scholarship is not a guaranteed admittance to any one college or university. Scholars are still required to apply to colleges and universities and follow the requirements needed for each institution.
Eligibility:
To receive the Golden Door Scholarship, all applicants must:
Be graduating/have graduated high school and reside in one of our regional states, the following states are considered regional states:
North Carolina
South Carolina
Georgia
Have one of the following documentation or immigration statuses
Undocumented, foreign-born people who do not possess a valid visa or other recognized immigration documentation in the United States
Demonstrate high financial need
Have graduated or will graduate from a United States high school (or have earned or will earn a high school equivalency diploma)
Live in the United States for at least four (4) years prior to applying for the Golden Door Scholarship
Have an unweighted high school GPA of 3.2
Be willing to relocate to and enroll full-time in a bachelor’s degree program
Be willing to pursue a major aligned with Golden Door Scholars’ preferred majors list
Note: If you are a current US citizen, permanent resident, or born in the U.S., you are NOT eligible to receive the scholarship.
Helpful Tips
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, so applying early is helpful
Applications received after the deadline will not be considered
Applicants must clearly demonstrate a strong academic record
High school and college transcripts DO NOT need to be official versions; you may scan and upload the transcript or attach screenshots of your transcript
SAT and ACT scores are not required. However, if you do have standardized test scores, you can include them in your application at your discretion
Both the video recording and written essay are required to complete your application
