The Role

GoGuardian is seeking a Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting, to join our growing team. The position reports to the Corporate Controller and has several direct reports. This is a newly created role for a seasoned professional with demonstrated experience overseeing the order-to-cash process that includes order review, billing, cash collection and revenue recognition. The successful incumbent will have proven technical revenue recognition expertise, and is someone who enjoys improving and implementing systems, processes, and policies. 

What You’ll Do

Lead GoGuardian’s revenue, billing, accounts receivable management and monthly revenue close activities as follows:

  • Ensure proper revenue recognition under ASC 606 and provide revenue recognition guidance to others within the organization including the Accounting, FP&A, Sales, Sales Operations and Legal teams.
  • Collaborate with the deal desk, legal, and account receivable teams to ensure revenue and accounts receivable transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Advise on customer setup for new deals. Perform review and analysis of contracts under ASC 606, including pricing/SSP analysis as needed. Ensure invoices are prepared according to contract terms. Gather and review documentation to ensure correct invoicing and revenue recognition.
  • Verify appropriateness of and processing of customer credits and small balance write-offs.
  • Ensure customers are invoiced for sales tax when required using Avalara AvaTax. Work with the Sales and Sales Ops teams to ensure customers have provided exemption certificates and resale certificates and maintain Avalara CertCapture.
  • Manage the accounts receivable team to ensure the subsidiary ledger is clean; and cash collections, recording of transactions, and reconciliations and reporting are prepared timely and accurately. 
  • Partner with GoGuardian’s Sales Ops team to support maintenance of the company’s product catalog in Salesforce SteelBrick CPQ. 
  • Manage revenue month-end and quarter-end close assignments.
  • Participate in the financial audit and preparation of required audit support schedules. 
  • Maintain and enhance existing systems, documentation, and communication of new/updated processes to the GoGuardian team. Champion a continuous improvement process methodology; driving revenue, accounts receivable and reporting processes through data driven improvements cycles. 
  • Collaborate with Sales, Services, Engineering, Legal, Products Management and others to analyze data, identify opportunities, iterate, and implement changes. 
  • Manage team members and provide coaching and performance management to assist career development and progression. 
  • Support internal revenue reporting to key stakeholders and Board, for example flash reporting, product level revenue reporting for FP&A, inputs for Board presentations. 
  • Other ad hoc projects.

Who You Are

  • CPA (Active) with experience relative to this role.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • Deep understanding of software revenue recognition including those under ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers and understanding of ASC 340-40, Other Assets and Deferred Costs – Contracts with Customers.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, Salesforce, Salesforce SteelBrick CPQ, Avalara AvaTax and CertCapture or similar systems.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting sales contracts and translating to invoicing and revenue recognition.
  • Experience working in a growing technology company with a SaaS, consulting, and training services business model.
  • Experience with accounts receivable management, including collections.
  • A strong work ethic, a positive customer service attitude and a high level of energy.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and highly developed organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines while managing competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and solid judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with customers and all levels throughout the company.
  • Ability to be the subject-matter “go-to” expert for GoGuardian’s revenue recognition.
  • A history of successful cross-functional communication and collaboration to continuously improve processes and results.

The typical base salary range for this position is $165,000 to $185,000. The salary displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire base pay for this position and your pay will be determined by a variety of factors, including your primary work location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
