At GoFundMe, we’re transforming the way payments work at scale. Our growing Payments Engineering team is building next-generation infrastructure to process billions of dollars in transactions, empowering millions of people to create real, meaningful change in the world. We are looking for a passionate and visionary Engineering Leader to help us lead this transformation.
In this role, you’ll spearhead the strategy, design, and execution of GoFundMe’s global payments infrastructure. You will drive innovation, ensure seamless and secure payment experiences, and empower your team to deliver solutions that scale with our mission to help people help themselves.

The Job…
- Team Leadership: Build, inspire, and lead a high-performing engineering team across the U.S. and Buenos Aires, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation.
- Payments Strategy: Shape and execute a multi-year roadmap to grow our platform’s giving potential through innovative payment solutions and increased internal capabilities.
- Technical Vision: Partner with engineering, product, and design teams to architect and implement scalable, next-generation payments infrastructure. Ensure performance, reliability, and security in a high-transaction environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver secure and efficient payment capabilities, including checkout, payout, ledgering, reconciliation, and onboarding (KYC).
- Execution: Drive cross-functional projects from concept to completion, balancing technical trade-offs with business needs and maintaining alignment with organizational goals.
You…
- Experience: 10+ years as an Engineering Leader, overseeing mid-sized organizations, and driving successful outcomes.
- Payments Expertise: 5+ years of experience leading teams in one or more key payment areas: checkout/payment methods, payouts, ledgering, reconciliation, interchange, or KYC/onboarding. Proven ability to ship impactful features within complex payment ecosystems.
- Technical Skills: Deep expertise in system architecture, with a track record of designing and implementing scalable, high-performance solutions in high-transaction environments.
- Leadership: Strong experience growing teams, leading cross-functional projects, and ensuring timely delivery. Skilled at aligning technical priorities with business goals and communicating effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Adaptability: Equally comfortable diving into the technical details of payment systems and presenting to executive leadership.
- Mission-Driven: Passionate about creating solutions that empower individuals and communities around the world.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with global payments systems and scaling payment infrastructures in high-growth organizations.
- Familiarity with emerging payment technologies and trends.
- Strong connections with payment providers and industry networks.

The total annual salary for this full-time position is $260,000-$350,000 + equity + benefits. The salary range was determined by role, level, and location requirement the US. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
